X-Men director Matthew Vaughn would love to make a Star Wars movie

X-Men: First Class and The King’s Man director Matthew Vaughn has revealed that he would like a Star Wars film if they get the chance.

In the late 1990s, Matthew Vaughn broke through into the film industry, primarily as a production partner of Guy Ritchie. The filmmaker would go on to direct his own films, which would eventually involve a number of comic book adaptations, including films within the film. X-Men franchise, de Super awesome series, three films in the king men franchise and a role as a producer in Fantastic four. But there’s at least one other big IP that the director would love to get his hands on.

At a recent press event, Matthew Vaughn revealed that he would love the opportunity to Star Wars movie. The X-Men director even stated that he would have given Lucasfilm the rights to Kingsman direct a movie for free. He did make it clear that the studio was not interested in working with him at the moment:

“If you had asked me that ten years ago, I would have given Kingsman to Lucasfilm for free to make a Star Wars movie. So yes, I would have loved to make a movie that was part of the Skywalker Saga. Out of all the IP I’m not involved in, Star Wars would always grab my attention. Just as they called – they never called me, they have no interest in working with me, to be very clear. I think they think I’m probably a bit too, what’s the word ‘misfit’ maybe? But I would promise that if I did, I would my… I’m not saying no one tries to turn a good movie into a bad movie, but I would scrupulously try to protect the legacy of something I’ve fallen into love with movies before. So the answer, very long-winded answer, but yes, I would like that.”
