Opposition TMC MPs tore up the papers on Thursday and threw the state legislature into bed, as IT Minister Aswini Vaishnav read out a report alleging that the Israeli company had used the spyware Pegasus to commit fraud. TMC and other opposition members rushed to the council well.
They raised slogans and tore up papers that appeared to be copies of the report the minister was to make. As the documents were blown up in the air the Minister was unable to complete his report and instead placed a copy of it on the table of the House.
Deputy Speaker Harivansh asked the members to abstain from the conduct of Parliament before adjourning the House for the day. Opposition MPs had earlier suspended proceedings earlier in the day, forcing two adjournments in which not even officially listed documents were kept.
They raised slogans about snooping and other issues.
