Sidhu Camp Refuses Apology to CM as Punjab Tussle Continues

Several Congress MLAs have said that Navjot Singh Sidhu is now the chairman of the Punjab Congress committee at the behest of the party high command and should not publicly apologize to the chief minister.

More than 60 Congress MLAs reached Navjot Singh Sidhu’s residence in Amritsar on Wednesday, from where they will accompany him by bus to the Golden Temple, Turkiana Temple and Ram Theerath in Amritsar.

Navjot Singh Sidhu’s camp has rejected Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s request for a public apology to Sidhu, saying the chief minister should instead pour out his ego and apologize to the public for not fulfilling his election promises.

More than 60 Congress MLAs reached Navjot Singh Sidhu’s residence in Amritsar on Wednesday, from where they will accompany him by bus to the Golden Temple, Turkiana Temple and Ram Theerath in Amritsar. Many of these MLAs said that Sidhu is now the chairman of the Punjab Congress committee at the behest of the party high command and should not apologize publicly to the chief minister. This will now exacerbate the crisis in the Punjab Congress with big egos on both sides.

“Why should Sidhu apologize to the chief?” This is not a public issue. The chief minister should apologize to the public for not fulfilling his promises, ”said Sidhu’s close aide and MLA Barkat Singh. Ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa asked the Chief Minister to leave his ego and asked why he could not forget when he harshly criticized the incumbents of the truth, such as Bhartab Singh Bajwa and Sukpal Khaira.

“Sidhu is now the BCCI president elected by the high command. The chief minister must realize where the will of the people is. Sidhu should not apologize,” said MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur. Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh state Congress chiefs congratulated Sidhu on his appointment as BCCI Punjab president. He said that he had not received any congratulatory message from the Punjab Chief Minister for more than 72 hours and that it reflected worse about the Chief Minister than Sidhu.

Capt Amarinder Singh’s media adviser on Tuesday said that Sidhu had not sought any appointment with the chief minister for a meeting and that the chief minister would meet Sidhu only if he publicly apologized for the social media attacks on the chief minister. Sidhu visited several MLAs and ministers in Chandigarh on Monday but did not meet him for the first time. Several MLAs who had previously been close to the chief minister were recently seen on Sidhu’s side and felt the wind blowing in favor of Sidhu after he was appointed.
