Who is Pooja Rani?
Pooja Rani Boora, born February 17, 1991 is an Indian middleweight boxer. She won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in the 75 kg category.
She won the gold medal at the 2016 South Asian Games. She also won Silver (2012) and Bronze (2015) in the 75 kg weight categories of the Asian Championship. Represented India at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 in the 75kg category.
In 2016, she was unable to qualify for the Rio Olympics when she lost in the second round of the Women’s World Boxing Championship in May 2016. In 2020 she became the first Indian to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Boxer Pooja Rani continued her excellent form at the Tokyo Olympics and made her way to the quarterfinals of the 75kg women’s middleweight quarterfinals by defeating Ichrak Chaib of Algeria in the round of 16 on Wednesday. .
Pooja Rani, the reigning Asian champion and the first Indian athlete to qualify for the Olympics, won a 5-0 unanimous decision against her 20-year-old opponent to get one step closer to securing herself and India a medal.
