Playing On Front Foot, What Navjot Singh Sidhu Did After Becoming Punjab Cong Capt

In a show of strength, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday marched on the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Wednesday with a group of 62 MLAs after months of bitter polarization between him and Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Leaders will have the opportunity to meet Turkiana Mandir and Ram Theerath Stall.

Before taking over as Punjab Congress president, Sidhu had invited 77 Congress legislators to worship at the Golden Temple, but only 62 of them came to the house in Amritsar, his aides said.

Sidhu, who arrived in Amritsar on Tuesday, received a warm welcome when he reached Amritsar after becoming the BBC chief. Bhagat Singh’s ancestral village Katkar Kalan visited Sidhu yesterday to pay homage to the freedom fighter at his memorial.

In Nawanshahr, MLAs Guljit Singh Nagra, Raj Kumar Verka, one of the four working leaders appointed by the Congress, Angad Saini, Sukpal Fuller, Inderbir Singh Polaria and Gurpreet Singh G.P. Heavy police were deployed in the area and barricades were put up.

After paying floral tributes, Sidhu, along with other party leaders, proceeded towards Amritsar. When he arrived at the Golden Gate, the main entrance to Amritsar, the politician who became a cricketer was warmly welcomed by a large number of Congress workers and supporters.

The party leaders who welcomed Sidhu included MLAs Inderbir Singh Baloria, Raj Kumar Verka, Sunil Thatti, Sukhwinder Singh Danny and leader Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lali. Sidhu’s supporters and party workers danced to a “skin” beat.

Party workers put up posters of Sidhu in various parts of the city.

Before leaving for his home, Sidhu went to the hospital for treatment for an injury to his right toe. His toenail was broken in the Katkar tank in Navanshar. He was discharged after getting dressed.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Sunday appointed Navjot Singh Sidhu as the new leader of the party’s Punjab faction, despite strong opposition from Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Gandhi appointed four working leaders to assist Sidhu before the next assembly elections.

The day after the appointment, Sidhu on Monday promised to work with every “Kang family member” to carry out the mission of ‘Ziteka Punjab’. The 57-year-old cricketer-turned-politician thanked leaders, ministers and the Congress leadership for appointing him as the head of the Punjab faction and stressed that it would strengthen the party’s structure in the state. Legislative elections are set to take place next year in the Congress-ruled state.

Sidhu arrived in Chandigarh on Monday morning and met several party leaders including former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Pathal, ministers Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Saranjit Singh, Razia Sultana and Sukjinder Singh Randawa.

He also shared a picture of his father with India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. “In order to share prosperity, privilege and freedom not only for a few but for all, my father left the royal family as a Congress employee and joined the freedom struggle, the King was sentenced to death for his patriotic work of apologizing, the DCC President, MLA ., MLC and Advocate General, ”Sidhu added in a Twitter post.

Sindhu arrived in Chandigarh on Monday morning from Patiala along with MLAs Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, Gulbir Jira and Madan Lal Jalalpur. They went straight to meet MLA Guljit Singh Nagra at his residence in Mohali. Nagra was one of four working leaders appointed by Congress.

At Nagra’s house, sweets were distributed and a cake was cut. Sidhu also met Punjab Youth Congress leader Parinder Singh Thillai at his residence.

After that, the Amritsar East legislator went to Jagar’s house expressing hope that it would meet the expectations of the people of Punjab. Jagger said the party will fight with a united face in the upcoming elections.

From Jagir’s house, Sidhu went with some party legislators to meet Minister Razia Sultana. Sidhu and several party legislators later gathered at the residence of Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa.

He then went to the residence of former Punjab Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Patel and received his blessings. CB had been meeting party leaders for the past few days, even before he was elevated as the BBC president.
