In a show of strength, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday marched on the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Wednesday with a group of 62 MLAs after months of bitter polarization between him and Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. Leaders will have the opportunity to meet Turkiana Mandir and Ram Theerath Stall.
Before taking over as Punjab Congress president, Sidhu had invited 77 Congress legislators to worship at the Golden Temple, but only 62 of them came to the house in Amritsar, his aides said.
“I swore. The progress of Punjab is my aim. The progress of Punjab is my progress, “said Sidhu, who will assume office at the Congress headquarters in Chandigarh at 11 am on Friday. Chief Minister Amarinder Singh will also be invited to the Sidhu coronation ceremony.
