Ishq Not A Love Story Movie Actual Story & Full Information
Story: A younger couple faces the pitfalls of ethical policing when they are physically and mentally harassed by unknown men. With their love put to the test, how do they cope?
Review: Ishq is the Telugu remake of the 2019 Malayalam movie of the same title that struck viewers as divided at launch. While it’s commendable that the SS Raju adaptation, similar to the unique one, addresses how ethical policing affects younger, single couples who just want to date and get to know each other, how the filmmakers seem to envision themselves in a ‘eye for a watch’ situation is certainly problematic. When girls have at all times been the victims of a society that places honor and respect on their bodies, the way the film handles the subject matter is tricky.
Siddhu (Teja Sajja) is your ordinary IT guy who likes to spend time with his girlfriend Anu (Priya Prakash Varrier) and unwind with her. He is extremely possessive and must ensure that her birthday remains unforgettable. Two duets, a long drive down Seaside Street after finding a personal corner to spend some time alone and discover a parking space. The hassle actually gets to the type Madhav (Ravindra Vijay) who claims to be a police officer. He threatens them for personal information, soon finds himself joined by another man, and trouble seeps down from there. What starts as a romantic relationship quickly turns into every couple’s worst nightmare.
In the best way that Siddhu’s character is written, at the beginning of the whole ordeal you expect him to want no less than to know if his girlfriend is mentally okay given he is so “possessive” of her. That doesn’t happen. Toxic masculinity is nothing new to Indian cinema and the filmmakers are discovering an option to insert it directly into a story that initially did a great job of examining one thing that quite a few couples put on this national face. Ishq doesn’t just go into great detail about how uncomfortable, how scary it can be when any random uncle believes it’s his business to know everything about you and feel free to speak ambiguously. What’s scarier is how a supposedly good man feels comfortable using the same ambiguities on a younger baby who will most likely find you need years of healing.
Ishq is a strange mixture of feminism and misogyny that don’t really mix. On the one hand, you could have Anu, who would remain moderately in a clearly more damaging state of affairs than Search Aids because she doesn’t want to put her household to shame. But she’s also aware of what she needs from an accomplice and is happy to give him the finger, actually, if it’s not in line with her train of thought. Siddhu is referred to as the “hero” of the story in the way the music plays in the background when he’s on screen. He will decide a fight with any man because he looked at his girlfriend and his concept of revenge is so twisted that no sane man can give you that. His transition is a bit exaggerated and shocking.
Teja Sajja and Priya Prakash all give their roles, but it’s definitely Ravindra Vijay who stays with you long after the movie ends. His character is so twisted; he performs it with angry, merry abandon. Moreover, Mahati Swara Sagar’s songs add nothing to the film and the chemistry between the main couple is so absent, it bores you until the film gets into trouble. Ishq had the potential to be something extra if only the subject in question was raised higher as a substitute for ultimately being nothing more than a case study on the huge, fast, male egoist.
